Bridge Pose - Yoga Tutorial for Beginners
Bridge Pose (Sanskit "Setu Bandha Sarvangasana") is a richly therapeutic posture in Hatha Yoga, best known for opening the chest area and stretching the back. Colleen guides beginners through this posture in a step-by-step manner, allowing them to gradually work up to the full pose as their bodies allow. If done properly, this posture provides the following benefits: Strengthens the back, glutes, thighs and ankles; opens the chest and hip flexors; stretches the neck, shoulders and spine; calms the mind and alleviates stress; stimulates internal organs of the abdomen and improves digestion; and relieves tired legs.
This is one in a series of tutorials that will provide the student with the basics required for learning Yoga postures at their own pace, guide them in achieving the benefits, and prepare them for participation in more advanced yoga classes.
