Reclining Hand-to-Big-Toe Pose (Sanskit "Supta Padangusthasana") provides a great hamstring and hip stretch. Colleen guides beginners through this posture in a step-by-step manner, allowing them to gradually work up to the full pose as their bodies allow. If done properly, this posture provides the following benefits: Relieves lower-back pain, loosens tight hamstrings, opens up the hips and can relieve arthritis pain, stretches the calves, and aligns the pelvis.
This is part of a series of tutorials that will provide the student with the basics required for learning Yoga postures at their own pace, guide them in achieving the benefits, and prepare them for participation in more advanced yoga classes.
